E-learning at ensait: a case study

P.L. Douillet, S. Pessé and A.M. Jolly-Desodt 1 2

Abstract:

How to train engineers for the textile industry has been, since 1889, the everyday question of the ENSAIT (ENSI Arts et Industries Textiles at Roubaix, France). A lot of things have changed since the foundation of our institution: the market, the technologies and even the ways for transmitting knowledge.

This paper exposes the transformations our institution has undertaken for several years. Evolving toward e-learning obviously involves a lot of skills and many material prerequisites. But this evolution requires also a deep investigation about  what we want to transmit. A lot of the know-how in the textile industry are remaining beyond an explicit formulation, and e-learning is an exceptional occasion to undertake this clarification.
